PTT country wide fixed mediation solution

Telikom PNG has a variety of switching elements from Alcatel, Nortel, Siemens and others. Given the rugged terrain, rural population, and state of law and order, it was important to install automated collection of all billing data that could be centrally managed from the Post Moresby headquarters. As the costs to alter the billing system to accept the different formats from several vendors were prohibitive it was necessary to manipulate all data to produce one, normalized format.

Case Study

TeleSciences provided Edge Servers with various interface modules to connect to each different switch type, providing high-reliability, lights-out, collection and processing systems that are installed close to the different generating elements.

TeleSciences Core Server (5000) is installed at the central data center to collect the data that is pushed from the Data Servers. The Core Server accepts the various formats and then reformats the records to produce one, common format that is transmitted to the billing systems.

The system has been in continuous production since 1998 and has increased revenues by over 3%.
