Telenor provides mobile services in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. After taking full control of the operations in Denmark (following the acquisition of SBC's shares) Telenor wanted to consolidate mediation across these three sophisticated European markets. Case Study In its home market of Norway, Telenor had implemented one of the most sophisticated mediation and billing systems in Europe using products from TeleSciences, Convergys (Geneva) and Oracle (Portal). Telenor took a strategic view to update its operations in Sweden and Denmark to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership and to improve the speed to market for new services. In Sweden it replaced an aging Ericsson BMP implementation with the same mediation application that it uses in Norway, the TeleSciences Core Server (5000i). In 2005, after winning total control of operations in Denmark it was faced with the choice of continuing to use the Intec (Digiquant formerly Belle Systems) solution, or replacing this with TeleSciences. After a detailed comparison of the features and associated maintenance costs of both systems, Telenor decided to turn down the Intec system so that it could use the faster, more efficient TeleSciences solution across all three markets. TeleSciences Core Server (5000i) running on an HP Superdome provides Telenor with a real-time, event based mediation system that supports the rapid introduction of new services for all of its voice and data mobile customers. Testimonial "TeleSciences Mediation translates, tracks and feeds complex multi-service network data to the necessary OSS/BSS applications enabling Telenor to react fast to changes in the market, maximizing our revenue assurance. TeleSciences help support Telenor’s transition into the new era of the IP Service Network.”
